Pair up your Sentinel Boat Monitor device with Calypso Ultrasonic portable wind instrument and have your own real time weather station in your pocket

Our smart solution got a reinforcement!

The Calypso instruments launched a new pocket-sized solar Ultrasonic anemometer with top-notch measurement capability. This small self-powered piece of hardware lasts up to 30 days without the sunlight and it provides you real-time data for wind speed, wind direction and air temperature.

This impressive wind instrument uses only Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) for providing the raw anemometer data with the highest level of accuracy.

Ultrasonic is open to third-party apps whereby you can get clear information while you’re on your boat, but when paired with boat monitoring device its sensory information becomes accessible to you wherever you may be. You don’t have to be on your boat to know what is happening there. With complementing Sentinel Boat Monitor, Ultrasonic’s data logger is visible from anywhere with an internet connection.

How to pair your Boat Monitor and the Ultrasonic

The pairing procedure is straightforward because both devices use Bluetooth connection. Open your Sentinel Mobile App, select the (+) icon for adding the new device and select “Pair Bluetooth device” from the menu. When you are in proximity of an Ultrasonic, it will appear on the list. Select the boat that you want to pair it to and the data of wind speed, wind direction and air temperature become at your disposal.

Easily pair the Ultrasonic with your Boat Monitor using the Sentinel mobile app

Once pairing is completed, the data from Ultrasonic is also available in the web app. Data collected is systematized for you and presented as graphs which are updated as new data becomes available.

Access anemometer data remotely

Wind speed, direction and temperature become available to you from everywhere in the Sentinel mobile and web apps

When stormy weather approaches, it’s good to be the first to know. You can set an alert for wind speed and receive a push notification to your phone as soon as the wind starts rushing. This, together with the anchor alert will give you an additional peace of mind that your boat is safely anchored, even in the presence of strong wind. If weather conditions changed for the worse, you would be the first to know and be able to salvage the situation.

In addition, the wind data can be overlaid over your routes, which allows you to understand how wind speed and direction affected your sailing.
